Cessna: Still time to help United Way

In this week's edition of Talk of the Town, we talk with Roy Cessna, president of the Finney County United Way board, about the fundraising campaign going on now.

The goal is a lofty one, at $550,000, which will help 21 agencies in Finney County in 2010. So far, the group is about 30 percent of the way to the goal with a few weeks left in the campaign.

For more information about the United Way, call (620) 275-1425, or a tax-deductible donation may be sent to 1511 E. Fulton St., Garden City KS 67846.

The organizations counting on the United Way fundraising campaign are United Methodist Mexican-American Ministries, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Finney and Kearny Counties, Community Day Care, Emmaus House, Garden City Family YMCA, Spirit of the Plains CASA, Russell Child Development Center, Garden City Area Chapter of the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Miles of Smiles, Kansas Children’s Service League Head Start, United Cerebral Palsy of Kansas, Catholic Social Service, Family Crisis Services Inc., Meals on Wheels, Southeast Asian Mutual Assistance Association, Smart Start, The Garden City Recreation Commission Playground Program, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Santa Fe Trail Council Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland.
