Margaret L. Egbert

Margaret L. Egbert, 83, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at her home in Garden City.

She was born July 18, 1925, in Larned, to August and Dorothy Keller Winter. When she was a child, her family moved to Deerfield, where she graduated from Deerfield High School.

On Oct. 16, 1943, she married Francis C. Egbert in Deerfield. They moved to Pierceville and then moved to a farm south of Charleston before relocating to Garden City in 1969. A homemaker, she enjoyed sewing clothing for her children, camping, and oil and water painting. She was a member of Pierceville Federated Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Lacy of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Shirley Wasinger and Debbie Appelhans, both of Garden City; a stepsister, Joan Kimmel of Cortez, Colo.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Alden and Marvin Winter; and a sister, Dorothy Maxine Drennan.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pierceville Federated Church, with the Rev. Terry Major officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Visitation hours are 3 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Condolences may be sent at garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Memorials are suggested to Meals On Wheels, in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
