ULYSSES -- Traci Ann Garrett, 35, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at her home in Pea Ridge, Ark., after a long battle with lupus.
She was born Dec. 19, 1972, at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla., to Dennis and Virginia Luna Elliott. She grew up in Ulysses, attended New Horizons Christian Academy and received a medical assistant certificate from Ross Institute.
Mrs. Garrett worked as a medical assistant and dental assistant in Monroe, Mich. She had lived in Germany, Wichita and Michigan for 12 years before moving to Arkansas last year.
On Feb. 21, 1989, she married John Garrett in Ulysses. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Wyatt and John "J.T." Garrett, both of the home; her mother, Virginia Jackson of Lakin; a brother, Darin Elliott of Portsmouth, N.H.; a sister, Jenny Van Dusen of Lakin; numerous nieces and nephews; and her grandmother, Wanda Luna-Allenbaugh of Holcomb. She was preceded in death by her father and her grandfather, Alfred Luna.
Funeral will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, with the Rev. Dennis Carter officiating.
Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested for the family or the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
