Dorothy Susan Wells
Dorothy Susan Wells, 89, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Feb. 24, 1919, in rural Overbrook, to Daniel and Lucy Barnhart Bond. When she was young, the family moved north of Ingalls. She attended Prairie Hope School in Finney County and then attended Garden City High School.
On July 20, 1936, she married Howard C. Wells in Dodge City. They lived in various places before moving to Garden City in 1953. A homemaker, Mrs. Wells enjoyed needlepoint, reading and spending time with her family. She was a 55-year member of Garden City Church of the Nazarene.
Her husband died June 19, 1990. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lena Ramsay; three brothers, Otis, Howard and Earl Bond; a granddaughter, Anna Sowers; an infant daughter; and an infant son.
Survivors include three sons, Alvin Wells of Leoti, Howard Wells Jr. of Chelan, Wash., and Gene Wells of Garden City; three daughters, Wanda Parr and Donella Miller, both of Garden City, and Teresa Sowers of Scott City; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Garden City Church of the Nazarene, with Dr. Jerry Ketner officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Condolences may be sent at garnandfh@sbcglobal.net.
