Janice Bray

ULYSSES -- Janice Bray, 63, of Ulysses, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover.

She was born Sept. 28, 1944, in Jay, Okla., to Claude and Mable Smith Duncan.

A former resident of Hugoton and Garden City, she was a member of Country View Baptist Church in Ulysses, loved her hobby of ceramics and enjoyed Monday night bingo. A homemaker, she also enjoyed being a member of the Evening Belles E.H.U.

While working at Ideal Grocery in Hugoton, she met Everett Bray, whom she married on Nov. 22, 1965, in Ashland.

They then moved to Garden City. She worked for many years for Gibson's Discount, in Garden City and in Ulysses.

In addition to her husband, other survivors include a son, Danny Bray of Liberal; a brother, Charles Duncan of Johnson City, Texas; and two sisters, Retha Long of Tulsa, Okla., and Ruth Hughes of Colcord, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Country View Baptist Church, Ulysses, with the Rev. Sam Bynum officiating. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. Memorials are suggested to Country View Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
