Charles Moore

Charles H. Moore Sr.

MODOC --¬­ Charles H. Moore Sr., 88, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Wichita.

He was born Oct. 30, 1919, in Willow Springs, Mo., to Virgil E. and Mertie J. Goodman Moore.

A resident of Scott County since 1934, moving from Willow Springs, Mr. Moore was a farmer and a rancher. He was a member of Prairie View Church Of The Brethren at Friend and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7773 at Scott City and was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II.

On Nov. 19, 1942, he married Waneta Z. Clinton in Barclay, Texas. She died May 5, 2002. He also was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Louis, Alvin, Archie, Joseph, Edgar and Emmitt; and a sister, Bertha Morris.

Survivors include a son, Charles Moore Jr. of Modoc; two daughters, Veda Allen of Grand Junction, Colo., and Sharis Ballard of Buhler; a sister, Virginia Woods of California; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Prairie View Church Of The Brethren, officiated by the Rev. Jon Tuttle and Larry Taylor. Burial will be at Prairie View Church Cemetery in Friend.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
