Alfred Boehs

MONTEZUMA -- Alfred Boehs, 97, of Montezuma and formerly of Fairview, Okla., died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma, where he had been a resident since July 2004.

He was born Dec. 9, 1910, in Fairview, to Benjamin J. and Esther Kahn Boehs.

A farmer, Mr. Boehs was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church.

On March 19, 1933, he married Esther Penner in Fairview. She died Aug. 19, 1970. In August 1971, he married Ruby Penner. She died in October 1999. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Schmidt; three brothers; a sister, five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Alan Boehs of Fairview, and Max Boehs of Sun City West, Ariz.; three daughters, Aleene Koehn of Montezuma, Sharon Ratzlaff of Moundridge, and Alfreda Nightingale of Ulysses; a brother, Walter Boehs of Isabella, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Mennonite Church, officiated by Randy Levings, Donald Koehn II and Denton Koehn, ministers. Burial will be at Cedar Cemetery in Fairview.

Visitation hours are 4 to 8 p.m. today at Montezuma Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Mennonite Gospel Tracts, in care of the funeral home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.
