Marguerite Pearl Schwindt

LAKIN -- Marguerite Pearl Schwindt, 86, of Lakin, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.

She was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Culver, to Henry C. and Viola Wahlen Asmussen.

Mrs. Schwindt attended cosmetology school in Salina and was the former owner of the Tumbleweed Inn in Lakin.

On March 13, 1953, she married Floyd Earl Schwindt in Leoti. He died in 1986. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Clyde Asmussen; and a sister, Josephine Haley.

Survivors include a son, Barry L. Schwindt of Los Lunas, N.M.; two daughters, Roxy A. Ferretti of Lakin, and Fonda L. Hammer of Deerfield; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, Lakin, with the Rev. Roberta Karchner officiating. Inurnment will be in Leoti Cemetery, Leoti.

There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family or the First Presbyterian Church, both in care of Chapel of the Roses Mortuary & Monument Co., Box 926, Lakin, KS 67860.
