RICHFIELD -- Margie Louise Vail, 85, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas.
She was born Jan. 12, 1923, at the family farm home near Pretty Prairie, to W.W. "Bub" and Cora Alma Graber Henderson. She attended Pretty Prairie High School and Hutchinson Business College. After college, she took care of her mother for several years.
On June 7, 1947, she married Lyndell William Vail in Elkhart. He died July 4, 1982. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Don Henderson; a grandson, William Barton Parish; and a granddaughter, Emily Parish.
Mrs. Vail had resided with her son in Las Vegas the past few years for ease of her dialysis treatment, having been a four-year patient of Davita South Las Vegas Dialysis. She was a retired relief postmistress with the U.S. Postal Service and a member of the U.S. Government Postal Workers Association. She was an avid fan of baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves and watching the World Series. Her favorite pastime was writing to friends and family. She also loved crocheting and sewing.
Survivors include two sons, Howard Vail of Las Vegas, and Darrel Vail of Johnson City; a daughter, Janice Alvarado of Guymon, Okla.; a brother, Ray Henderson of Hutchinson; two sisters, Iris Zerger of Pretty Prairie, and Erma Peabody of Sterling; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Richfield Methodist Church, officiated by Sandy Ferguson, pastor. Burial will follow in Richfield Cemetery.
Visitation hours are 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Elkhart. Memorials are suggested to Richfield Methodist Church or the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home, Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
