June Wilbur

ELKHART -- June Wilbur, 75, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.

She was born Aug. 1, 1932, to Charles and Thelma Merchant Richardson. She graduated from Batesville High School in Batesville, Ark., in 1952.

On Dec. 5, 1959, she married Jack Wilbur. They moved to Wilburton in 1959 to farm. She helped around the farm and also served on the election board. An Elkhart resident since 1998, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhart and also taught Sunday school classes. She loved to sing and paint.

Her husband died Oct. 31, 1989. She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Julie Ann Wares of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Linda Lou Bennett of Batesville; and three grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Elkhart, with the Rev. Bruce Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Elkhart Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Elkhart. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association, in care of the funeral home, Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
