Mary Rosena Buell

Mary Rosena Buell, 92, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in Garden City.

She was born July 26, 1915, in Frederick, S.D., to George E. and Ollie L. Hunley Fletcher.

A homemaker, Mrs. Buell had been a longtime Stafford County resident before moving to Garden City in 2002. She was a member of First Christian Church of Stafford, Macksville Order of the Eastern Star and a 75-year member of Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed volunteer work, reading, sewing and bird watching. She was known by everyone at Homestead Health, formerly known as Terrace Garden in Garden City, for her thumbs-up greeting and smile.

On July 6, 1941, she married Vernon F. Buell in Sedgwick. He died Oct. 13, 1996.

Survivors include a son, Larry Buell of Valley Center; five daughters, Mary Seibert of Garden City, Karen Bahl of Ulysses, Martha Meadows of Payson, Ariz., Kathryn Keeton of Liberal, and Veronica Smith of Marietta, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Stafford, officiated by her grandson, Travis Meadows. Burial will be at Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John.

There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Stafford Larabee Library or the Alzheimer's Association, both in care of Minnis Chapel, 125 N. Main, Stafford, KS 67578.
