Donita R. Steele

SCOTT CITY -- Donita R. Steele, 75, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

She was born April 10, 1933, in Manning, to Almon Teed and Esther Luton Unruh.

A lifetime resident of Scott City, Mrs. Steele was a homemaker. She was an active member of First Christian Church of Scott City, serving as a Sunday school teacher and a Sunday school superintendent, belonged to PEO and Order of the Eastern Star, both in Scott City, and was a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, Boy Scout troop leader and a Brownie leader.

On Sept. 5, 1951, she married Todd Steele in Clayton, N.M. He survives. Other survivors include three sons, Mike Steele of Scott City, Pat Steele of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Keith Steele of Ulysses; a daughter, Peggy Pfannenstiel of Lawrence; a brother, Jerry Unruh of Goltry, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church, Scott City, officiated by Mike Steele and the Rev. Jeff Knighton. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Visitation hours are 1 to 8 p.m. today at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Condolences may be sent at www.priceandsons.com or pricefh@wbsnet.org. Memorials are suggested to Park Lane Nursing Home, in care of the funeral home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City, KS 67871.
