Victoria Rachelle Dowell
ULYSSES -- Victoria Rachelle Dowell, 16, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Ulysses.
She was born Oct. 18, 1991, in Garden City, to Randy and Denise Leiker Dowell.
A sophomore at Ulysses High School, Victoria played softball and basketball, was active with the solar car program in the Industrial Arts Club, and also played the trumpet in the band and played the piano. She was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Ulysses, was a race car driver at Dirtona and worked at Ross of Ulysses. She enjoyed her pet dog, Jack.
In addition to her parents, survivors include a sister, Resa Dowell, her grandparents, Larry and Marie Dowell and Calvin and Rita Hall, and her great-grandmother, Agnes Ohnmacht, all of Ulysses; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Gilbert Leiker.
Vigil service will be 6 p.m. Monday at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ulysses. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. James P. Dieker officiating. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery.
Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. Memorials are suggested to the Ulysses High School band or Industrial Arts Club, both in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
