Obed Koehn

Obed Koehn, 84, of Montezuma and formerly of Copeland, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.

He was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Canton, to Ben C. and Katie Nichols Koehn.

A resident of the Copeland area for most of his life, Mr. Koehn was a farmer and stockman. He enjoyed singing and wood carving and was a member of Salem Mennonite Church, Copeland.

On Dec. 1, 1946, he married Luella Unruh in Copeland. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Don Koehn of Okolona, Miss.; three daughters, Jane Schafer of Liberal, Althea Smith of Ingalls, and Vickie Wedel of Copeland; four brothers, Leroy and Ernie Koehn, both of Moundridge, and Norman and Dale Koehn, both of Galva; two sisters, Elizabeth Koehn of Okolona, and Roberda Koehn of Galva; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; a brother, Jake Koehn; and a sister, Della Koehn.

Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Mennonite Church, Copeland, officiated by Steve Koehn, Sam Unruh and Steve Unruh, ministers. Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Copeland.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Montezuma Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Garden Valley Retirement Village, in care of the funeral home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.
