LEOTI -- Charles William "Chuck" Gish, 77, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Wichita County Medical Center in Leoti.

He was born May 15, 1930, in Calhan, Colo., to George A. and Fern E. Huntsman Gish.

A Leoti resident since 1971, moving from Colorado Springs, Colo., Mr. Gish was a laborer for Hi-Plains Feedyard, Farmco at Selkirk and for Richie Road Construction. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of the United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both at Leoti, and Moto Guzzi Motorcycle Club.

On Nov. 8, 1975, he married Peggy Ann Clark in Leoti. She survives. Other survivors include five sons, Charles and Clayton Gish, both of Garnett, Kenneth Gish Jr. of Garden City, Steven Clark of Leoti, and Bobby Matthews of Denver; five daughters, Debbie Holton of Garnett, Donna Schwindt of Ottawa, Linda Meyer of Loveland, Colo., Glenda Horacek of Menlo, and Debbie Matthews of Oklahoma City; a brother, Duane Gish of Sedro Wolley, Wash.; five sisters, Carol Enriquez and Opal Leftwich, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, Sandy Goin and Georgia Mae Petrie, both of Colorado Springs, and Barbara Carpenter of Woodland Park, Colo.; 26 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a daughter and a granddaughter.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, with the Rev. Rick Just officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery, with military honors provided by Leoti VFW.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti. Condolences may be sent at www.priceandsons.com. Memorials to the Chuck Gish Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
