Roger Dennis Norris

Roger Dennis Norris

Roger Dennis Norris, 74, of Hays, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born June 21, 1933, in Wright, to Roger V. and Minnie Wortman Norris.

In the furniture business for 54 years, Mr. Norris had owned Keller Furniture of Hays, Garnand Fine Furniture in Garden City and Williamson Interiors of Grand Island, Neb. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays and was a past board member of the National Home Furniture Association.

On Feb. 14, 1953, he married Patricia Werner in Kinsley. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Rene Norris of Hays; two daughters, Renee Longpine of Hays, and Ramona James of Garden City; a grandson; and two sisters, Winnie Slattery of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dolores Giles of Ashland. He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick, his parents, and two sisters, Monica Muench and Genevieve Fredelake.

Parish vigil service will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the DeBakey Heart Institute, in care of the funeral home, 20th and Pine, Hays, KS 67601.
