John E.C. Elliot

ULYSSES -- John E.C. Elliot, 64, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

He was born July 22, 1944, in Garden City, to John E.C. and Barbara Ellen Sturman Elliot. He graduated from high school in Ulysses and attended Kansas State University for two years.

A lifetime resident of Ulysses, Mr. Elliot was on the board of directors of Latham Water Service, having also served as the company's president and as a sales representative. A longtime paramedic, he was an emergency medical technician in Ulysses. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

On April 17, 1990, he married Susan Hollobaugh in Las Vegas. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Nikki Elliot of Atlanta, Terry Bryan of Liberal, and Tracy Bryan of Ulysses; a brother, Richard Elliot of Golden, Colo.; a sister, Sue Jones of Pratt; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Ulysses Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Flanders officiating.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
