Marjorie Powell

Marjorie Powell, 80, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, in Amarillo, Texas.

She was born June 25, 1928, in Ellis, to Jess and Edith Rankin Powell.

Mrs. Powell graduated from Elkhart High School in 1945. She lived in Elkhart most of her life and raised her family there. She loved all types of crafts, including crocheting, ceramics and painting. She was also a magistrate judge in Morton County for four years.

She married George Powell in 1948 in Boise City, Okla. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Chris Powell of Amarillo; a daughter, Gayle Powell of Dodge City; and two grandsons.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Georgina Randolph; and a brother Marvin Rankin.

A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Elkhart, with the Rev. Ron Crosley officiating. Burial will be at the Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
