Manuela Andrada

Manuela Andrada, 60, of Liberal, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

She was born Feb. 15, 1949, in San Antonio, to Eugene and Eufemia Zammarripa Ortega. She attended school in Garden City.

A resident of Liberal since 1973, Mrs. Andrada worked at National Beef Packing for 25 years, retiring in 2006 because of ill health. She was a member of Puerta del Cielo, Liberal.

On Nov. 26, 1966, she married Lupe Andrada in Garden City. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Guadalupe Andrada Jr. of Wichita; three daughters, Sandra Galindo, Linda Andrada Guillermo and Rosa Andrada, all of Liberal; two brothers, Fernando Ortega of Ellsworth and Joe Ortega of Greeley, Colo.; eight sisters, Bernadina Porras of Pierceville, Dominga Nava of Salina, Gloria Rosas, Dora Carrillo and Diana Betancourt, all of Garden City, Yolanda Corral of Holcomb, Juanita Venturi of Richland, Miss., and Carmen Taria of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Eleno Lopez.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Puerta del Cielo, Seventh and Lincoln streets in Liberal, officiated by Jose del Carmen, pastor. Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Puerta del Cielo.

Miller Mortuary, Liberal, is in charge of arrangements.
