Karla Ridder

MARIENTHAL — Karla Kay Ridder, 55, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Hays Medical Center in Hays.

She was born May 23, 1954, in Leoti, to Earl Frederick and Florence Lorene Ray Giesick. She graduated from Wichita County High School in 1972.

A lifetime Wichita County resident, Mrs. Ridder had served as Wichita County Clerk since being elected to the position in 1995. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Iota Pi sorority in Leoti and the Kansas Association of County Clerks in Topeka.

On Aug. 10, 1974, she married Charles M. "Chuck" Ridder in Leoti. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Joshua Jerald Ridder of Leoti; a daughter, Lexi Leigh Gardner of Hays; her parents, of Leoti; a sister, Jana Ray Rairden of Richmond, Va.; and three grandchildren.

Vigil service will be 7 tonight at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Benjamin Martin officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Marienthal.

Visitation is until 5 p.m. today at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti. Condolences may be sent at www.priceandsons.com. Memorials are suggested to the Wichita County Amusement Association or the Dreiling-Schmidt Cancer Institute at Hays Medical Center, both in care of the funeral home.
