Janie Randles

DIGHTON — Janie S. Randles, 58, of Kimball, Neb., died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyo.

She was born May 20, 1951, in Garden City, to Hobart Jr. and Betty Foster Yates. She attended elementary school in Shields, graduated from Dighton High School in 1969 and attended cosmetology school in Hays. Upon graduation, she worked in Goodland, Solomon and Salina.

While in Salina, she met Gary Randles, whom she married on July 25, 1975. They moved to Abilene, where she helped run a restaurant with him, and later moved to Perry, Okla., where they operated a restaurant/hotel chain. In 1978, they moved to Kimball, where they ran the Interstate Inns and Beef N Brunch. After some time spent in Colorado, they returned to Kimball and purchased Double R Flooring. In 2007, they sold Double R Flooring and ran JR's Restaurant and then purchased Motel Kimball. She loved fishing and visiting with people.

Survivors include her parents, of Shields; her husband; a son, Chad Randles of Kearney, Neb.; a daughter, Kimberly Randles of Kimball; two stepdaughters, Vicky O'Grady of Arizona, and Angela Crossly of Alaska; two brothers, Ronald Yates of Dodge City, and David Yates of Healy; a sister, Kathy Blackwell of Larned; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a grandchild.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church of Dighton, with the Rev. Howard Bever officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Condolences may be sent at garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Memorials to the Janie S. Randles Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
