Richard 'Skeeter' Herrman

Richard G. "Skeeter" Herrman, 61, of La Crosse, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Garden City.

He was born Aug. 4, 1947, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Rudolph George and Erma Mae Olson Herrman. When he was 4, the family moved to Garden City and he attended Garden City schools.

Mr. Herrman worked at the Farmland packing plant for many years and also managed rental properties in Garden City. He later worked at Time Tool Rental. In 1991, he moved to La Crosse and went to work for the La Crosse Furniture Factory. He enjoyed boxing matches, fishing with his son and especially enjoyed being "Papa" to his grandchildren.

On Jan. 29, 1966, he married Rosalie M. Perez in Lakin. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Kristina R. Levy-Mayer of Los Angeles; a son, Rocky G. Herrman of Mulvane; his mother, of Garden City; a brother, Ronnie Herrman of Garden City; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Louise Stinemetz.

Rosary service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Trong Binh Tran officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Visitation hours are 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent at garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Memorials to the Richard Herrman Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
