Beth El Heitschmidt

Beth El Heitschmidt, 73, of Guymon, Okla., died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Memorial Hospital of Texas County.

She was born Nov. 30, 1934, in St. Francis, to Roy and Bertha Zimbelman Waters.

On Nov. 16, 1955, she married Ernie J. Heitschmidt in Denver.¬ They lived in Kansas City, Kan., and then in Herrington before making their home in Guymon in 1967.¬ 

Mrs. Heitschmidt enjoyed her involvement in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, Delphinium Garden Club, Meals on Wheels and the Texas County Junior Livestock Show.¬ Always a nature lover, she enjoyed gardening and was a bird enthusiast. She also enjoyed her family activities, photography, music, art, needlework, cooking and baking and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Teresa Levin of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lori Heitschmidt of San Antonio; two sons, Steve Heitschmidt of Garden City, and Roy Heitschmidt of Nazareth, Texas; two sisters, Cathy Brunswig of Fort Collins, Colo., and Dixie Keller of St. Francis; a brother, Jerry Waters of Bethesda, Mass.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dona Sherlock.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, Guymon, with the Revs. Michael Burkett and Barry Bennett officiating. Cremation is planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Panhandle Nutrition (Meals on Wheels), Guymon High School Band Boosters or Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, all in care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, Box 1306, Guymon, OK 73942.
