Phyllis Heilman

HUGOTON — Phyllis Kay Heilman, 66, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at her home in Hugoton.

She was born Oct. 18, 1943, in Gridley, to John and Eleanor Jasper Young.

On Dec. 31, 1959, she married Edward Eugene Heilman in Emporia. They moved from Emporia to Hugoton in 1980.

Mrs. Heilman had worked as a waitress at Daylight Donut and as a retail clerk at IGA and Bultman Inc. Her hobbies included bowling, crocheting, knitting, making jewelry, collecting tins, motorcycling, dancing and genealogy. She was a member of a bowling league in Liberal, belonged to the Eagles Club in Emporia and was a lifetime member of the National Harley Owners Group. She loved spending time with her family and considered her grandchildren her pride and joy.

In addition to her husband, other survivors include four daughters, Noelene Craft of Gage, Okla., Ginger Lee Floyd of Dodge City, Kaylee Norton of Rolla, and Lynnette Hageman of Hugoton; a brother, Roger Young of Topeka; two sisters, Charleen Knoblock of Yates Center, and Kathryn Maley of Emporia; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Carl Heilman; a brother, Arthur Jasper; and a sister, Claudine Jones.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Friends Church, Hugoton, officiated by Eric Mason, pastor. Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fruitland Cemetery in Americus.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton. Memorials are suggested to Pheasant Heaven Charities, in care of the funeral home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.
