James Collier

James Collier, 48, of Hereford, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Hereford Regional Medical Center in Hereford.

He was born April 18, 1961, in Hereford, to Jimmie and Jean Davis Collier. He grew up and attended school in Hereford before moving to Garden City.

Mr. Collier was a member of Central Baptist Church in East Texas. He liked to hunt, fish and race slot cars. His greatest love was attending sporting events of his children. He was a Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys fan as well as a NASCAR fan.

On Sept. 26, 1978, he married Glena West in Hereford. She survives. Other survivors include his father, of Hereford; a son, Jesse James Collier of the home; two daughters, Ashley Bird of Colorado City, Colo., and April Collier of Lubbock, Texas; five brothers, Rusty Collier of Garden City, and Matt, Mark, Ronnie and Robby Collier, all of Hereford; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Services are under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford and will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Hereford, with the Rev. Kyle Streun officiating. Burial will be at West Park Cemetery in Hereford.

I knew James when I lived in Hereford. He was a great man. I was friends with his daughters. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Sorry about your loss.
