Viola Sue Hoeffner

SUBLETTE -- Viola Sue Hoeffner, 62, of Tyrone, Okla., died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born Nov. 22, 1944, in Ovid, Colo., to Laurel Alfred and Elsie Katherine Land Woods.

Mrs. Hoeffner moved from Denver to Sublette and then lived in Kismet for nearly eight years. She moved from Kismet to Tyrone three years ago. She had worked in the post office for 23 years, as a postal clerk in Sublette and as postmaster in Plains, and attended Tyrone Baptist Church.

On Sept. 2, 1995, she married Daniel L. Hoeffner in Baca County, Colo. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Kurt Schutt of Denver, and Jeff Schutt of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Tina Anthony of Alliance, Neb.; two stepsons, Ed Hoeffner of Guymon, Okla., and Michael Hoeffner of Oklahoma City; two stepdaughters, Sheryn Wells of Dallas, and Dana Robinson of Turpin, Okla.; her stepfather, Dorl Mosttler of Pratt; five brothers, Robert Woods of Missouri, and Leon Woods, Walter Mosttler Jr., John Mosttler and Kenneth Mosttler, all of Sublette; five sisters, Janet Olsen of Pratt, Wanda Piland of Springfield, Mo., Kay Stamper of New Richmond, Ohio, Mary Mae Pietrick of Chicago, and Luella Jones of Missouri; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Laurel Alvin and Richard Lee Woods; and a sister, Twala Mosttler.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tyrone Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Sappington officiating. Burial will be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. today, 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Memorials are suggested to St. Judes Children Hospital, in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
