L.J. Heinemann

L.J. Heinemann, 91, a former longtime resident of Garden City, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at his home in Vancouver, Wash.

He was born June 10, 1917, in Wisner, Neb., to John and Marie Wieland Heinemann.

Mr. Heinemann was a 1st Lieutenant with the 15th U.S. Army Air Corps based in Italy and flew several combat missions during World War II. He was the owner/operator of Heinemann Insurance Agency in Garden City from 1947 until he sold the agency and it became known as Rutter-Cline Agency. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and Southwind Country Club, all at Garden City.

On Nov. 13, 1939, he married Roma Bennish Anderson in Wisner. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Kathy Heinemann of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Les Heinemann of Garden City; a sister, Millie Rintoul of Hutchinson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City, with the Rev. Wesley Schawe officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent at www.priceandsons.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice Southwest in Vancouver, Wash., in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, KS 67846.
