A Guatemalan man, who was arrested in Finney County last month, faces a number of allegations, including unlawfully re-entering the country, according to a grand jury indictment returned Wednesday.

Jose Leonel Donis-Corado, Guatemala, is charged with one count of unlawfully re-entering the United States after he was deported, three counts of aggravated identity theft and one count of possessing false documents to be employed in the United States. He was arrested June 20 in Finney County.

Last month, 33 people in Garden City, including Donis-Corado, were arrested during a five-day operation targeting those who were allegedly in the country illegally and who had skipped immigration hearings or were facing deportation because of felony convictions.

Donis-Corado was arrested while in the Finney County Jail on state charges, including criminal trespass. Those charges were dismissed and he was taken into federal custody.

Those arrested were from El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Vietnam, according to a press release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Unlawful re-entry after deportation is punishable by a maximum 2 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Aggravated identity theft is punishable by a mandatory two years in prison that must run consecutively to penalties on other counts.

Using false documents to be employed in the United States is punishable by a maximum 10 years in federal prison without parole and a fine of up to $250,000.

Those convicted of producing false identification documents could face a maximum of 15 years in federal prison without parole and a fine of up to $250,000.
