David Lares, 43, 2605 E. Fair St., Apt. 5, was arrested 6:35 p.m. Oct. 2 on an allegation of armed robbery. He already was in custody on unrelated charges.

According to the Finney County Jail log, Lares was arrested at 1:33 a.m. Oct. 2 in Finney County on allegations of driving while suspended and unlawful acts of vehicle registration. He was arrested later that evening on the armed robbery allegation.

According to reports, police responded to U-Pump It on Sept. 12 just after an aggravated robbery. The investigation determined a man entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The man then fled after obtaining money. He was described as being a black male, 5-foot-7, skinny and wearing dark clothing.

Between July and Oct. 1, more than six armed robberies occurred in Garden City with similar circumstances and suspect descriptions.

Police Sgt. Michael Reagle said Lares has been arrested only in connection with this particular case.

Because of ongoing investigations into the other incidents, Reagle would not comment on whether Lares is believed to be connected to the other incidents.

"The other armed robberies are under active investigation," he said.

No charges have been filed yet by the Finney County Attorney's Office.

I wonder if this fella is one of those individuals that Tyson is actively recruiting from areas such as Chicago as they're released from prison on parole? I know of numerous assaults & rapes of individuals perpetrated by these worthless scumbags (No, not the Tyson execs in charge of recruitment - I meant the parolees!) in several southwest Kansas communities. At what price does 'progress' come? Evidently for some that price is much, much higher than those sitting in positions of power who allow companies such as this to come in and control law enforcement preventing legitimate policing of traffic & bring in the scum of the earth to our community. Bravo.
