A Johnson City man died Sunday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita from injuries sustained in a crash that occurred Thursday night in Stanton County.
Donaciano Valerio-Armendariz, 54, had been at the Wichita hospital since he was life-watched there from Stanton County Hospital Thursday night.
He had been driving south on County Road D in Stanton County, approaching the intersection with County Road 7. Ernesto Maldonado, 36, Ulysses, headed east on County Road 7 and failed to yield to Valerio-Armendariz's pickup, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Valerio-Armendariz's vehicle rolled onto the driver's side against a power pole. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to KHP.
His passengers, 22-year-old Leonel Cardenas-Nunez and 29-year-old Hugo Berzoza-Miranda, both of Ulysses, along with Maldonado, were injured. They were taken to Stanton County Hospital, which wouldn't release information about their conditions. All three were wearing seat belts, KHP reported.
