Moore to celebrate 90th
Doris L. Moore, a former Lakin resident, will celebrate her 90th birthday on Sunday, April 27, 2008.
The celebration will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Northside Church of Christ, 4545 N. Meridan in Wichita.

Senior Boomer Expo
The SouthWest Kansas Area Agency on Aging's 2008 Senior Boomer Expo is scheduled for Thursday at the Dodge City Civic Center, 2100 First Ave.¬ The Expo kicks off the celebration for Older Americans Month held in May.¬ This year's theme is "Working Together for Strong, Healthy and Supportive Communities." Special guests include Robert Jenkins of Comedy Care Inc., and Christian country performer Ben Bolling of Jetmore.
The opening ceremony for the free event begins at 9:30 a.m. and features Andy Denton of Dodge City and a performance by Zachary Ricketts of Sublette, an accomplished classical pianist.¬ Both are high school students. Following the opening, representatives from nearly 30 businesses and social service agencies will be available to provide information on products and services of interest to seniors and caregivers.
Attendees age 60 and older also can try their luck in a variety of competitive games and win door prizes.
Janet Splitter, from Eldercare Inc. of Great Bend, will conduct a workshop on how to make healthy choices when dining out.¬ "Eating for Healthy Aging" will start at 11 a.m. in the VIP room. Special guest Robert Jenkins will follow at 12:15 p.m., discussing "Your Humor and Your Health -- That Funny Relationship."¬ Lunch will be available for a small fee.
The afternoon activities kick off with "Mega Bingo Blackout" where one lucky senior, age 60 or older, will walk away with a $300 cash prize. An ice cream social and musical entertainment from Ben Bolling begins at 2:30 p.m.
The SouthWest Kansas Area Agency on Aging has held an annual senior expo for more than 20 years.¬ This year's event is made possible by SWKAAA, city of Dodge City, Carpet for Less of Cimarron, and ElderCare Inc. and McMillen, Folkerts & Associates, P.A., both of Great Bend.

Duplicate bridge
Members of the Garden City Duplicate Bridge Club played a 25 board Howell movement April 14, with 15 suit games bid and made plus two in no-trump and one defensive slam that went down five doubled. May Craig and Jon Kempton placed first with a 57 percent game, while J.D. and Rusty Farr took second with a 52 percent game.
Games begin at 7 tonight and 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior Center, with all bridge players welcome. For partners, call Kempton at 276-2876.
Sherlock Hustlers FCE
Sherlock Hustlers FCE members enjoyed lunch recently at the Clarion Inn, followed by their meeting led by Jola Kraus, unit president.
The lesson focused on the history of famous people and the roles they played or are playing in their lifetime. For roll call, 10 members named a famous person they would like to meet and explained their choice.
Krause reminded members that the Finney County Spring Fling begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Finney County Fairgrounds. Eight unit members are planning on attending the event.
The next unit meeting is scheduled for May 20 at the home of Liz Baier, 2003 Antler Ridge, with Vivian Funk as the co-hostess.
