County commissioners adopted an addendum to the county’s current sick leave policy in the hopes the new provisions will alleviate employees' concerns about missing paid work and prevent extraneous spread of this year’s pandemic flu.
Finney County commissioners voted during their public meeting Monday morning to include some of the following provisions in its personnel policy regarding sick leave: employees must report any flu-like symptoms to their supervisors immediately; employees found to have flu-like symptoms must stay home until their symptoms are absent for a minimum of 24 hours without the aid of medication; any employee who refuses to go home after being told by a supervisor is subject to disciplinary action.
In other business, a public hearing scheduled for Monday morning regarding a road closure petition from a Holcomb convenience store owner was canceled due to action legal action taken by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Commissioners had planned to act on a petition to close county road located near Presto, 7935 U.S. Highway 50, and submitted by owner Terry Presta.
County commissioners learned Monday that KDOT officials are suing the county from taking any action on the matter until a public hearing is held Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Finney County Courthouse, according to County Administrator Pete Olson.
