At Glamorous Salon and Spa, it's all about pampering the customers, owners Kaylee Vy Nguyen and Leslie White, who opened the business a month ago, said.
White, who has about 20 years of experience styling hair and ran her own salon, Ad'd Touch for 16 years, said the ultimate goal at Glamorous Salon, 1110 N. Campus Drive, Suite C, is to meet every need of every customer, which is why the business offers a full line of services, from cuts and styles, to nail work, and skin care, including waxing and massage.
"Everything from head to toe," White said.
Nguyen, who has three years experience as a stylist, said striking out and starting a new business had been a goal of hers and the timing was right for her financially.
She also called up a friend who dabbles in Asian astrology who told Nguyen, whose sign is the rat, that it would be a good year to take on the endeavor.
White said the two complement each other by playing off of each other's strengths in order to make sure the customer leaves happier than they were when they came into the salon.
"They come in stressed out -- 'Should I get my haircut? How should I get it cut?' -- and when we're done, they're not stressed out," White said. "It's wonderful to help people feel better about themselves."
Both admitted that with as many salons as there are in Garden City, standing out can be a challenge. In order to do that, the business offers monthly specials on products and services and customers can put their names in a box for drawings to win products and services. The two plan on coming up with specific specials for special occassions, such as Mother's Day.
The business is open seven days a week, including 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, which both pointed out is relatively unique.
"We have some monthly clients who come in for a couple of hours of work and they are recharged for another month," White said.
Even though there are plenty of salons in town, White points out that people aren't always happy with a salon or switch salons to try something different or get a particular service done at one salon and a different one at another.
"It's all about pampering and getting glamoured up," White said. "We can do everything. It's a one-stop shop. We are a full-service salon -- and that's just between the two of us."
