Charges have been filed against a Ulysses man who was arrested Sunday in connection with the 2008 murders of a Ulysses couple.
Marco Lomas, 23, is charged with one count of capital murder for allegedly killing Marcos and Hilda Garcia on Aug. 30, 2008. He also is charged with aggravated burglary for entering the couple's home with the intent to commit a felony, according to a press release from Attorney General Steve Six's office.
Robin Hathaway, Grant County attorney, filed the charges Monday in Grant County District Court. Hathaway directed all questions to the attorney general's office.
Loma's first court appearance is 1 p.m. today in Ulysses.
Hilda and Marcos Garcia were found dead in their trailer home at 2974 W. Oklahoma, Lot 65, in BedRock Mobile Home Park in Ulysses. Their bodies were taken to Mexico for a funeral and burial, according to Ashley Anstaett, spokeswoman for the Attorney General's Office.
The investigation is a joint effort of the Ulysses Police Department, Grant County Sheriff's Office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
