Five Garden City men were arrested this morning for allegedly stabbing a man multiple times and beating him in a business parking lot, said Finney County Sheriff Kevin Bascue.
Bascue said deputies found 29-year-old Raul Pozos this morning in the employee parking lot of Tyson Fresh Meats Inc., 3105 IBP Road, with multiple stab wounds.
Finney County EMS transported Pozos to St. Catherine Hospital. His condition was withheld on his request.
According to the investigation, the men allegedly attacked Pozos in the parking lot at about midnight because he was dating a family member of one of the five men. Bascue said one man allegedly stabbed Pozos several times with a knife while four others allegedly beat him.
Bascue said because the incident occurred in the parking lot, operations at Tyson were not affected.
Bascue said that at about 3 a.m., deputies found four of the men at 305 W. Mary St., Apt. B3, and arrested them.
Those arrested are: Candelario Gonzalez, 44, 305 W. Mary St., Apt. F7, Jesus Carbajal, 19, 305 W. Mary St., Apt. B3, Daniel Aldrete, 21, 305 W. Mary St., Apt. B3, and Alberto Cuevas, 21, 305 W. Mary St., Apt. B3. They face allegations of attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The men also were arrested on allegations of liabilities for crimes of another person.
Bascue said the fifth person, Francisco Espinoza-Pinon, 19, 1217 Mulberry St., was arrested at 4:30 a.m. at his home on identical allegations.
Bascue said deputies arrested Enrique Rios, 27, 305 W. Mary St., Apt. B3, at 3 a.m. on allegations of felony obstruction and liabilities for crimes of another because he interfered with deputies during the arrest of the four men.
Bascue said Rios was not involved in the stabbing or beating in the parking lot.
As of this morning, all six men are in the Finney County Jail. No bond has been set.
Bascue said the men are scheduled for probable cause hearings at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson said Tyson contracts with an outside company for roving patrols of the plant and there are surveillance cameras on the property.
