Shirley K. Calvin

Age: 67

Profession: Calvin has been a staff attorney with Kansas Legal Services, 120 W. Grant Ave., since 1993. Previously, Calvin practiced privately in southwest Kansas for 10 years.

Wade Dixon

Age: 54

Profession: Dixon has been a district magistrate judge in the 25th Judicial District for four and a half years. A lifelong resident of Greeley County, Dixon served as the county attorney from 1984 to 2004 and has concurrently practiced privately for 25 years.

Education: J.D., Baylor University School of Law, Waco, Texas, 1979.

In his own words: "I've thoroughly enjoyed being a magistrate judge and this is a natural progression for me. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to hear different and more difficult cases, as well."

Susan H. Richmeier

Age: 42

Profession: Richmeier opened her own law office in 2002. In addition to handling domestic law cases in divorce and childcare, she also is contracted through the county to handle misdemeanor criminal cases and represent juvenile offenders and in-need-of-care children. Prior to opening her own private office, Richmeier worked as a special education instructor with USD 457 for seven years and was concurrently a part-time attorney for five years.

Education: J.D., The University of Oklahoma College of Law, Norman, Okla., 1993; B.S., Oklahoma State University, 1989.

In her own words: "I'd like people to know that I grew up in a family that values public service for the betterment of the community. I have a profound respect for our judicial system and would like to carry that through."

Ricklin R. Pierce

Age: 55

Profession: Pierce has been a district magistrate judge in the 25th Judicial District since 2004. Previously, Pierce worked as an attorney in Eureka from 1978 to 1979, and several other private practices in Wichita, Smith Center and Garden City.

Education: J.D., Washburn University School of Law, 1978 .

In his own words: Pierce was not available for comment.

Christopher Sanders

Age: 50

Profession: Sanders has been a district magistrate judge since 2004. Prior to entering the 25th Judicial District, Sanders served as a regional attorney and child support enforcement attorney with the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, beginning in 1992.

Education: J.D., Washburn University School of Law, 1990; B.A., Wichita State University, 1982.

In his own words: Sanders was not available for comment.

Wendel W. Wurst

Age: 54

Profession: Wurst has been a general practice attorney with Calihan, Brown, Burgardt, Wurst, Daniel & Douglass, 212 W. Pine St., in Garden City for 29 years.

Education: J.D., University of Kansas School of Law, 1980; B.A., Kansas State University, 1977.

In his own words: "I have the patience and common sense that the job requires and respect for both litigants and attorneys; it would be a tremendous opportunity."
