LEOTI -- It's Bean Day In Leoti tomorrow and Gov. William Avery will be on hand to help in the festivities.
The governor is expected to arrive by plane at about 10 a.m. He will dedicate the new Wichita County Community Building at the Wichita County Fairgrounds at 10:45 a.m.
Governor Avery will be the principal speaker of the day at a special address following the dedication.
The annual Bean Day celebration also will feature a parade at 10 a.m. and is expected too attract some 4,000 persons.
Two buffaloes are being barbecued for the free dinner after the governor's speech. A Leotian, Homer Cory, is in chrage of the barbecue operations.
On the menu will be barbecued buffalo, pinto beans, cole slaw, pickles and onions -- all grown in Wichita County. The buffalo meat was to be placed in the pit this morning.
Included in the afternoon program is a free movie for the kids and Pass, Punt and Kick program for youngsters.
Also planned is a street circus and a dance Saturday night, which starts at 9.
Plans have been made topick up the Governor in Topeka Saturday morning and fly him to Leoti in time for the parade. He will be returned to Manhattan by 1:30 p.m. where he is scheduled to participate in Kansas State football game activities.
The Leoti Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event.
