One hundred people from Garden City and surrounding areas gathered at the Clarion Inn Sunday for the fourth annual progressive dinner, the Cattle Crawl.
The dinner was part of Beef Empire Days, Garden City's celebration of the local beef industry.
The event featured four stops at different Garden City restaurants. Although the restaurants had diverse dishes ranging from Asian to Mexican, they all had one common ingredient: beef.
Tom and Janie Welsh, who manage Sante Fe Feeders feedlot, came from Sublette for the dinner. Tom Welsh said that he and his wife came to see old friends and meet new acquaintances.
"The best part of the night is definitely the company. The food is good, but the company is better," he said.
Marcy VenJohn, the media intern for Beef Empire Days, said that tickets sold out fast. Each ticket sold for $65 and the committee had a waiting list of people interested.
VenJohn said the event's popularity was attributed to the good food and wine.
The evening began with appetizers at Las Margaritas, 301 N. Main St. The staff served steak taquitos, beef quesadillas and wine.
From there they went to Golden Dragon, 1106 N. Campus Drive, for beef ragu soup with baby carrots and French bread.
The Golf Club at Southwind, 77 Grandview Drive, was the third stop, where the attendees received a Caesar salad topped with beef tenderloin.
The night ended back at the Clarion Inn at Sammy's Spirits and Steakhouse, 1911 E. Kansas Ave.
The staff served a filet of steak with a whiskey peppercorn cream sauce and mashed potatoes. They had créme brêlée topped with fresh raspberries and blackberries for dessert.
After dessert, Sammy's opened its dance floor for dancing and karaoke.
The Cattle Crawl is a fundraiser for Beef Empire Days. Kennedy and Coe accounting firm sponsored the event.
