Catch 'The Classic Three' on Tuesday
A musical variety program featuring the music group "The Classic Three" will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St.

K-state offering farming workshops
Kansas State University Research and Extension Finney County will offer two workshops Thursday at the Grandstands Meeting Room on the Finney County Fairgrounds in Garden City.
"Crop Water Allocator" training will begin at 10 a.m., allowing producers to evaluate different crop mixes to determine what allocation of resources is most likely to yield an optimum net return. A "Sprayer and Nozzle Academy" will start after lunch. Topics include: adjuvants, calibration, equipment clean-out, nozzle selection and demonstration, plant biology and sprayer setup.

GCCC named to Aspen Institute's top 150
Garden City Community College was named to Aspen Institute's top 150 community colleges in the nation.
This designation opens the door for the college to compete for the 2015 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and the $1 million that comes with it.
The Aspen Institute collects data on factors such as student retention, graduation rates, and number of low-income and minority students served in more than 1,000 technical and community colleges every two years.
Other Kansas schools named to the Top 150 were Colby Community College, Flint Hills Technical College in Emporia, Hutchinson Community College, North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit and Hays, Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Pratt Community College, Salina Area Technical College, and Seward County Community College and Area Technical School.
