Clint Lightner Stadium, the only baseball facility in The Telegramís 12-county, 19-school area with an artificial turf infield, will play host to a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday for area schools.

With Garden City High School on the road both days at Emporia, Lightner Stadium will first host the Colby vs. Holcomb doubleheader at 4 p.m. Friday. Then, on Saturday, with a noon scheduled start, Syracuse will match-up with Leoti-Wichita County in another twin bill.

Weekend storms that dumped a foot or more of snow on the area, followed by some late Tuesday rains, have saturated most of the natural turf baseball fields in the area as well as softball diamonds at the majority of the area high schools.

Holcombís Longhorns have been one of the hottest teams in southwest Kansas so far this spring, sporting a 11-1 record.

The games against Colby will be a Great West Activities Conference contest.

Syracuse and Wichita County compete in the Hi-Plains League.
