Blood donors help cause

During the summer months, blood donations are always down and the need for blood seems to always go up. Many blood drives are not reaching their goal, but the Garden City Community blood drive held on June 21 and 22 exceeded its goal. A big thanks to the many loyal Red Cross blood donors who came out, not only to donate blood but to honor our servicemen and women by donating blood in honor of them. Servicemen whose names were turned in to the First United Methodist Church will be receiving cards signed by the donors. These cards also contain personal messages of thanks from the donors.

Credit to city on street work

We would like to commend the city staff and employees who planned the resurfacing on our area of Fleming Street Monday morning.

Very early everyone involved needed to be ready to roll and that they did. It was a sight to behold as they cleared and readied the street. It all came together like clockwork, cleaning, oil, sand and packing. Moving orderly north and south from east to west across the street. By 7 a.m., Fleming was ready for the busy traffic.

Thank you each and everyone involved.

MAX and MARIANNE MILLER,
