Build your body with TRX Training

"TRX Training," a class to help participants build lean muscle, boost metabolism, tighten their core and increase their endurance, will start Tuesday at Garden City Family YMCA.

The four-week class will be taught by Melissa Fulton, a NETA certified instructor. Class will be from 5:45 to 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday, with another session offered in March. Class is limited to seven participants.

Spin your way to good health

Garden City Family YMCA will offer five spinning classes in February. All sessions are $12 for members and $24 for program participants.

"Begin to Spin" meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m.; "Just Spin Plus" is from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; "Cycle Jam" is from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; "Sweating Buckets" meets from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays; and "Lean Mean" meets from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Each class is open to 10 participants.

Painting workshop set for Feb. 8

Garden City Recreation Commission has an upcoming painting class on schedule, taught by Cindy Crandall, director of Deerfield Recreation.

Crandall has been teaching painting/arts for many years. She will provide all the materials needed to complete an entire painting that each participant will be able to take home that same day.

A minimum of five artists will need to be registered to conduct the one-day class, open to age 12 through adult.

The class will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 8 at the activity center, 310 N. Sixth St. Cost is $65 per artist.
