The American Legion Post No. 9 Auxiliary Ladies will conduct its

annual ceremony Friday in remembrance of POW/MIA Day. It will begin at

6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 405 S. Main St., and is open to the

public.

The third Friday of September is designated as POW/MIA Recognition

Day to honor those U.S. service members that are either prisoners of war

or still missing in action. Congress mandates the flying of the POW/MIA

flag on this day, along with five other days: Armed Forces Day,

Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day.
