The models are ready, dresses are arriving. I am talking about the Wedding Dress Show planned for 2 p.m. June 11 at the Senior Center.
We invite you to bring in yours, your mother's, your wife's or your daughter's wedding dress to be shown in the program. We hope to have wedding dresses from every decade starting in the 1900s.
If you can still wear your dress and would like to model it, we encourage you to do so. If you prefer, we can find someone to model your dress. In my case, my 12-year-old granddaughter will fit my dress better than I do.
If the wedding dress is too delicate to be worn, we will display it. Bring in your wedding picture or other items of interest for the display table. The show will include entertainment and refreshments all in the wedding mode.
Call Patti, 272-3620, and tell her about your dress and wedding items. Make arrangements with Patti to bring in your dress or have it picked up. We need all dresses or arrangements made by Friday.
Depression is a mood disorder with a wide range of severity, from mild to deep feelings of sadness to devastating despair. Prolonged bouts of depression can be life threatening. Anxiety sometimes is a symptom of depression. Persistent anxiety should be checked by a health care professional. Grief, sadness and normal depression due to loss are normal and are not clinical depression. Depression requires evaluation and treatment.
There are many reasons for depression. Some illnesses bring on depression as they alter the chemical balance of the brain, such as Parkinson's disease, rheumatoid arthritis or stroke. Also, many common drugs can cause depression, such as blood pressure medications, antibiotics, diabetes medications and steroids. Talk to your doctor. Your physician should be able to tell if depression is present.
Here are the most common signs of depression:
1) Prolonged loss of appetite
2) Persistent insomnia or excessive sleep
3) Constant, excessive worrying
