As many people know, The Friends of the Finney County Library has book sales at various times during the year to raise money for the library. Proceeds from the book sales, pie sales and craft fairs go to help purchase items for the library and to support certain library activities. In this regard, The Friends of the Library group is requesting book donations from the public. The Friends would appreciate donations of books, hard and paperback, DVDs and CDs of all genres in good to excellent condition. Please deliver your materials to the Finney County Public Library, 605 E. Walnut, or call 272-3680 and request a pick-up.The next Friends of the Library sale will be held during two weekends of Beef Empire Days. This event is the group's largest sale and its biggest money maker, but books and other materials are needed to supplement those items already held by the Friends in the library basement. As well as book donations, the Friends organization is always looking for new members. The next Friends of the Library meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, in the Finnup Room at the library. Come join us.KEN HARSHA,Garden CityHarsha is president of the Friends of the Finney County Library.
