Women landowners are invited to attend a tour of conservation practices in the Cheney Lake Watershed on Saturday, April 20th. The tour will start near Castleton at 9 a.m. with transportation provided. Participants will visit working farms and ranches to see what local people have done to improve their farms and to protect soil and water. A lunch of local foods will be provided at the Yacht Club at Cheney Reservoir.
Participants will see practices that enhance soil health, livestock watering systems that include solar pumps and tanks made of construction tires, and cropland that has been converted to pasture. Farmers will demonstrate changes in farming technology and highlight innovative practices. There will be information about funds available for conservation work and the agencies that provide assistance to landowners.
