Two home runs by Caleb Bryson powered the Trinidad Triggers to a 14-4 rout over the Garden City Wind in a game that was called in the eighth inning at Central Park Thursday night in Trinidad, Colo.
Bryson finished the game going 2-for-3 at the plate, with four RBIs and two runs scored. His homers came in the third and sixth innings.
It was a close contest through seven innings, with the Triggers up on the Wind just 5-4. But in the bottom of the eighth, the host team exploded for nine runs, with the big blasts being a three-run double by Luc Pomales and a two-run double by Eric Williams.
The Wind got a pair of RBIs from Rodney Polonia, who singled in the fifth after belting a home run in the top of the first.
Patrick Jernigan picked up his first win for the Triggers. He allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings. Jernigan struck out four, walked two and gave up six hits.
Matthew McCormick was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted seven innings, walked one, struck out seven, and allowed five runs.
