At the Rolla Showcase, Syracuse, Moscow and Stanton County boys advanced to today's semifinals with first round victories on Thursday, while the Stanton County girls reached the semifinals as well with their first-round triumph.

The Syracuse boys breezed past Keyes, Okla., 58-14, Moscow slipped by South Baca, Colo., 49-46, and Stanton County tripped Beaver, Okla., 58-46. In the other boys opener, host Rolla nudged Elkhart 56-52.

On the girls side, Stanton County toppled Moscow, 58-32, Elkhart swept past Rolla, 61-42, South Baca knocked off Keyes, Okla., 47-38, and defending champion Beaver, Okla. stopped last year's runner-up, Syracuse, 48-42.

Consolation and semifinals continue today and the tournament concludes Saturday with championship games scheduled for 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Boys

Moscow 49, So. Baca, Colo. 46

Moscow got 16 points from Ismael Flores and 14 from Osvaldo Granillo to squeak past South Baca, Colo. 49-46.

The Wildcats jumped out to an 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and then led just 22-19 at halftime. It was still touch and go after three quarters with Moscow holding onto a 31-29 lead.

South Baca was led by Genesis Enriquez with 14 and Rafe Schroder had 12.

Syracuse 58, Keyes, Okla. 14

The Bulldogs jumped out early to a 20-5 lead after one quarter and then rolled on to a 40-9 halftime advantage. With reserves playing much of the final half, the Bulldogs had 10 players crack the scoring column.

Blake McAllister topped Syracuse with 13 points.

The Bulldogs will take on Moscow at 5 p.m. today.

Stanton County 58, Beaver, Okla. 46

The Trojans owned a 26-13 advantage in the second and third quarters and that was enough to hold off Beaver.

After one period, the game was tied at 11-11, but then a 15-6 second quarter run gave the Trojans a 26-17 lead at the break. It was 37-24 after three quarters.

Austin Nairn was the lone double-figure scorer for the Trojans with 13.

Stanton County faces host Rolla in a semifinal contest today at 6:30 p.m.

Kyle Hall, Koda Rich and Cameron Gallagher combined for 41 points to pace Rolla to its slim victory over the Elkhart Wildcats.

Hall tossed in 16 points for Pirates. Rich added 15 points and Gallagher had 10.

The victory sends the Pirates into the semifinals today against Stanton County at 6:30 p.m.

In a matchup of last year's championship game, Beaver used a 19-8 second quarter surge to take the lead for good after the score was tied at 14 following the first quarter. The 33-21 lead at intermission was sliced by the Lady Bulldogs to 44-38 after three periods, but the two teams struggled to score in the final eight minutes managing just four points apiece.

Grace Becker had 17 points and Jordan Jesko 11 to lead Beaver. Kylee Hedberg topped Syracuse's scoring with 18 points and Shanelle Sharp added 11.

The Stanton County Lady Trojans got double-figure scoring from three players en route to a 58-32 victory over Moscow.

Gylee Martin led the way with 15 points while Courtney Siruta and Aubree Summers chipped in 12 apiece. Mackenzie Dobie was high for Moscow with 12.

The Lady Trojans were ahead 12-4 after the first quarter and owned a 27-9 halftime lead.

Stanton County faces Beaver in one semifinal set for 3:30 p.m. today.

Elkhart 61, Rolla 42

Elkhart rode the 23-point performance of junior Payton Fleming to its 61-42 victory over Rolla.

The game was tight during the first half, as Elkhart held a 9-6 lead after one quarter and 26-19 at halftime. Then the Lady Wildcats exploded for a 20-8 third quarter margin.

Afton Lutters tacked on 10 points for the Wildcats, who will play South Baca, Colo. in one semifinal today at 8 p.m. South Baca claimed a 47-38 victory over Keyes, Okla. in the final opening round contest.
