First-time Garden City Wind manager David Peterson will have to wait at least another 24 hours for his first managerial win, as the Wind fell, 9-5, to Trinidad, Colo., in Thursday’s season opener at Clint Lightner Stadium.

The Triggers are a familiar foe for the Wind after eliminating Garden City from the Pecos League postseason in 2016 in a best-of-three series. Now, Trinidad is 1-0 and Garden City 0-1 to begin the 2017 campaign.

The two teams meet again at 7 p.m. Friday for Game 2 of a four-game set.

A box score was unavailable at press time Thursday evening.
