A walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning by Larry Rodriguez provided the Garden City Wind with an 8-7 victory Tuesday night at Clint Lightner Stadium over the Las Vegas (N.M.) Train Robbers.
It was the first win for the Wind after several disappointing setbacks in an 0-6 start for the inaugural season of the Pecos League team.
Dylin Brooks had a big offensive night for the Wind, including a first-inning home run, driving in a pair of runs and scoring once. Jacob Gonzalez picked up the victory for the Wind, striking out one, walking one and surrendering one hit in relief of Ethan Roseback, who had a solid outing — two hits, one earned run, walked one and struck out five during 3 2/3 innings of work.
The Wind and the Train Robbers (0-5) resume a six-game series at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Clint Lightner.
